Jake Epstein is a proud Canadian who can currently be seen on Netflix as Chuck in Designated Survivor and as Brian in Suits. However, he is best known for playing Craig in Degrassi: The Next Generation (yup, opposite Drake). His other favourite film/tv credits include Mouthpiece (directed by Patricia Romeza), Eight Gifts of Hanukkah (Hallmark), Borealis (directed by Sean Garrity), Charlie Bartlett (directed by Jon Poll), Frankie Drake, Ransom, Remedy, Murdoch Mysteries, Private Eyes, Hollie Hobbie and of course, The Zack Files (a YTV series he filmed when he was 13).
A graduate of The National Theatre School of Canada, he originated the role of Gerry Goffin on Broadway in the Tony nominated hit Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and survived playing Spider-Man/Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. Off-Broadway, he starred in the New York Times critic’s pick Straight. On tour, he has performed in most major theatres across the US starring in the hit Broadway show Spring Awakening and Green Day’s American Idiot. He recently originated the role of Jack, in Ken Ludwig’s world premiere of Dear Jack, Dear Louise at the renowned Arena Stage In Washington, DC.
In January, he will continue performing his acclaimed one-man show Boy Falls From the Sky (named as Toronto Fringe Festival’s Best of Fringe, Outstanding Production) as part of the Off-Mirvish season in Toronto. And later next year, he will be in the newest seasons of Umbrella Academy (Netflix) as well as The Hardy Boys (Netflix, Disney+).
His favourite credit is being married to actor and poet, Vanessa Smythe.
